About the Artist
Background and Path
I was born in a small rural village in France and spent part of my childhood in the Ivory Coast, where I was exposed to colorful textiles and numerous handcrafted African objects. Early experiences with sewing, drawing, and making things by hand shaped my sensitivity to color, form, and structure—elements that continue to inform my painting today.
I later pursued a career in engineering, a discipline that strengthened my analytic and problem-solving skills. After years of professional work and homeschooling my children, I shifted my focus fully to oil painting, committing myself to the craft through sustained study, reading, and practice.
I developed my skills through online coursework and weekly workshops at the Art Students League of Denver, where I studied under Doug Dawson, Master Pastelist and oil painter.
Subject Matter and Studio Practice
I create landscape-based oil paintings inspired by mountains, fields, paths, shorelines, and the landscapes of my everyday life. I also paint studies of flowers I grow in my garden. Themes of place and belonging inform my work. I am drawn to moments shaped by light, rhythm, and familiarity rather than dramatic spectacle.
